Week 2 Instructions -
Cultures around the world have their own origin stories, ways in which they believe and describe how the Universe came to be. It’s important that you understand that all origin stories should be respected, as they often relate to people’s cultures and beliefs.
Essential Question (Think about): Creation myths are found all over the world because there are different religions and beliefs about the world in different areas. What is the purpose of creation myths?
STUDENT DIRECTIONS:
***Important notes:
1. DO NOT complete the WRITE task for any of the articles. DO complete the quiz daily (see schedule below) in order to receive credit.
2. WRITING ASSIGNMENT: On a separate piece of loose-leaf or in the TEAMS assignment titled Origin Story, write your own origin story in a narrative structure (fiction). Include a god that has supernatural powers and a conflict that leads to the creation of 'man'. THIS IS DUE BY FRIDAY.
On Monday, read "Pan Gu: The Chinese Origin Story" and take the quiz.
On Tuesday, read "Popul Vu: Origin Story of the Maya" and take the quiz.
On Wednesday, read "The Great Turtle " and take the quiz.
On Thursday, read "Efik Origin Story: Abassi, God of the Universe" and take the quiz.
On Friday, read "Zulu Origin Story: Unkulunkulu, the Great One" and take the quiz. Make sure that you have completed and submitted the writing assignment in TEAMS.
